Dropbox Sign alternatives compared: a document with a teal signature line, tagged vs

Dropbox Sign, still known to many people as HelloSign, is a clean, dependable e-signature tool with a well-regarded API. People look for alternatives for a few recurring reasons: a team that has grown past per-user pricing, a need to take payment at signing, a preference for open source or self-hosting, or simply a budget that does not stretch to a yearly plan. This guide compares seven alternatives on what each company publishes.

Prices are each company's published list prices in US dollars. Dropbox Sign's and DocuSign's were checked on 16 October 2026, the others on 15 October 2026. Prices change, so check the source before deciding.

Paid plans include unlimited signature requests. Templates and bulk send are part of the plan line-up, with bulk send from Standard; the API is priced separately. Dropbox Sign also offers a free plan and a 30-day free trial.

The alternatives, one by one

Salsox

A flat price per account with no document count on paid plans: Personal is $9 a month or $90 a year, and Business, at $19 a month or $190 a year, adds Sign & Pay (card payments through Stripe, and card and mobile money through Paystack), signing order, approvers and a sealed PDF with a certificate. Signers need no account and can be reached by WhatsApp or SMS as well as email. Where it falls short of Dropbox Sign: no bulk send, no public API, no integrations, no team seats, and templates come from a ready-made library rather than your own documents. Suits: freelancers and small businesses sending their own contracts, especially if they want a deposit at signing. See Salsox vs Dropbox Sign.

SignWell

The closest like-for-like replacement for a small Dropbox Sign account. A free plan with 3 documents a month, Light at $10 a month billed yearly ($12 monthly) for one sender with unlimited documents, and Business at $30 a month billed yearly for 3 senders. Templates on every plan, bulk send, and 25 free API documents a month. Suits: small teams that want templates and a modest API without a big bill.

DocuSeal

Open source, so you can host it yourself for free, or use its cloud: a free Basic tier with 10 request emails a month, and Pro at $20 per user a month. Pro adds an API, embedding and bulk send. Suits: teams with a developer who want control over where documents are stored, or an embeddable signing component.

DocuSign

The best-known platform and the most complete: templates from your own documents, bulk send, conditional routing, a large integration catalogue and enterprise administration. Personal is $11 a month on an annual commitment with 5 envelopes a month; Standard and Business Pro are $30 and $45 per user a month, with 100 envelopes per user per year. Suits: organisations that need integrations, admin controls or volume. Our breakdown of DocuSign pricing shows what a team really pays.

signNow

Positions itself on unlimited users on all plans, unlimited templates, bulk send, embedded payments and native mobile apps. We could not confirm its prices on its pricing page on the day of the check, so get a quote. Suits: teams with many senders who would otherwise pay per seat.

Jotform Sign

Part of Jotform's form builder: free for up to 10 signed documents a month, then Bronze at $39 a month ($34 billed yearly) for 100 signed documents. More than 1,000 Jotform Sign templates, and payments through Jotform forms. Suits: people who already collect information with Jotform forms and want signatures in the same place.

Adobe Acrobat Sign

Signatures come with Adobe Acrobat: Standard is US$14.99 a month on an annual plan, with request-and-track signing on every Acrobat plan, and templates and bulk send from Acrobat Pro. Full PDF editing and integrations with Microsoft and Salesforce. Suits: businesses that already pay for Acrobat to edit PDFs.

Where Dropbox Sign is still the better choice

Dropbox Sign is a strong product, and switching has costs. Stay if you rely on its API for signing inside your own software, if your team uses templates built from your own documents and bulk send, or if you live inside Dropbox and its integrations. Several alternatives match some of this; few match all of it at the same price.

How to choose

  1. Count senders, not signers. Signers never need a paid seat with any of these tools. A per-user price for three senders triples; a per-account price does not.
  2. Check how sending is counted. Unlimited, a monthly document count, or envelopes per year.
  3. List the features you actually use: templates, bulk send, API, integrations, payments, signing order.
  4. Try a real document on the free plan or trial before committing to a year. Our guide to signing a contract online is a good test script.

If a flat price and payment at signing matter more than an API, you can try Salsox free with 3 documents a month, or compare plans on the pricing page.
