Add a signature to a PDF, on one page or on every page
Place your signature image exactly where it belongs, repeat it on every page for initialling, and download the result. Your PDF stays on your device.
Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.
Why use it
Your own signature, consistently
Use the same signature image every time instead of redrawing it, so every document looks the same.
Initial every page in one step
Long contracts often ask for initials on each page. One placement covers them all.
Nothing leaves your device
The image and the PDF are combined in your browser. Neither is sent to a server.
How it works
Choose the PDF
Open the document from your device. It is read in your browser and never uploaded.
Bring your signature
Upload a PNG or JPG of your signature (a transparent PNG looks best), or draw one on the spot.
Position it
Tap the page to place it, drag it into place and resize it. Add it as many times as you need.
Repeat on every page, if needed
Switch on "every page" to copy each mark on page one to the same spot on all pages, for initials.
How this differs from signing a PDF
The Sign PDF tool is built around one act: you sign a document once, with the date, and download it. This tool is built around placement. It is for when you already have a signature image you want to reuse, when a document needs the same mark in several places, or when every page needs your initials.
Contracts, especially tenancy agreements, loan documents and long service agreements, often ask the signer to initial each page. Doing that by hand in most PDF apps means placing the same image again and again. Here you place your initials once on the first page, turn on "every page", and the download has them at the same spot on every page.
Getting a good signature image
The quality of the result depends mostly on the image you start with.
- Transparent PNG is best. The signature sits on the page with nothing behind it, whatever the paper colour. The PDF signature generator makes one from a drawn or typed signature in a few seconds.
- Crop tightly. Empty space around the signature makes it harder to place and shrinks the visible ink when it is scaled to fit a box.
- Use dark ink. Black or dark blue stays readable when the PDF is printed in greyscale.
- Keep it modest in size. The tool scales large images down before using them, which keeps the signed PDF small enough to email.
What happens to the PDF
The tool reads your PDF, draws each placed image onto its page at the position you chose, flattens any fillable form fields so the result cannot be edited without trace, and saves a new copy whose name ends in "(signed)". Your original file is untouched. All of this happens in your browser using the same stamping engine Salsox uses when it seals documents signed through the service, so a signature looks identical whichever way it was placed.
When you need more than an image
An image on a page shows intent; it does not prove who put it there. If the other party might later ask who signed and when, collect the signature through a signing workflow instead, which records an audit trail. You can request a signature here, and a free account sends three documents a month.
Frequently asked questions
What image should I use?
A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result. The PDF signature generator on this site creates one from a drawn or typed signature. A JPG works too, but its white background will show on coloured pages.
How do I make a transparent signature image from a photo?
Sign on white paper, photograph it in good light, and crop it tightly. Or skip the photo and draw your signature in the PDF signature generator, which exports a transparent PNG.
Can I put different signatures on different pages?
Yes. Every placement is independent; switch images between placements, or leave "every page" off and place each mark by hand.
Will the signature be editable afterwards?
No. It becomes part of the page content, and any form fields are flattened, so the signed copy cannot be changed in a PDF reader without it being obvious.
Is there a page or file limit?
Files up to 25 MB, any number of pages. Your device does the work, so a very long document may take a few seconds on an older phone.
