There are seven field types. Each one asks the signer for one thing, and the signing page explains it to them as they reach it.
| Field | What the signer does | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Signature | Draws, types or uploads a signature. | The signature line. |
| Initials | Draws, types or uploads their initials. | Initialling each page or a changed clause. |
| Name | Types their full name. | A printed name under the signature. |
| Date | Nothing: today's date is filled in for them. | The date next to a signature. |
| Types their email address. | Contact details on a form. | |
| Text | Types the requested information. | An address, an ID number, an answer. |
| Checkbox | Ticks it, or leaves it unticked. | "I agree" boxes and options. |
Choose and place one
- On the Fields step, select the person the field is for.
- Select the field type from the toolbar.
- Tap the page where it goes. It appears at a size that suits its type; drag its corner to change that.
- Decide whether it's Required. New fields are required, except checkboxes, which start optional so a signer can leave them unticked.
Good to know
- A signer can't finish until every required field is filled in.
- Once someone has drawn or typed their signature, the signing page offers it again for their other signature fields, so they don't redo it.
- Fields are drawn onto the signed copy exactly where you placed them. The original PDF is never changed.
