Payment Reminder
24 October 2026To: Mr Lewis Tanner, Tanner Property Group From: Clearview Window Cleaning Ltd
Invoice overdue
Our records show that invoice INV-2026-0187, dated 15 August 2026, for GBP 1,450.00 was due on 14 September 2026 and has not yet been paid. If you have paid it in the last few days, thank you, and please ignore this letter.
How to pay
Please pay the full amount by 7 November 2026, by bank transfer to Clearview Window Cleaning Ltd, sort code 20-45-77, account 41896320, quoting the invoice number.
Interest and costs
Under the terms agreed and the law, we are entitled to charge statutory interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 from the due date, together with a fixed sum for the cost of recovering the debt. We would much rather not, and will not add them if the invoice is paid by the final date above.
If you cannot pay in full
If paying the full amount by that date is difficult, please contact us before then. We are happy to agree a payment plan in writing, in instalments that suit both of us.
If the invoice is disputed
If you believe any part of the invoice is wrong, please tell us in writing which part and why, and pay the rest. We will look into it promptly.
Next steps
If we do not hear from you by the final date, we may pass the matter to a collection agency or start legal proceedings to recover the debt, which would add to the costs. We hope that will not be necessary.

About the Late payment reminder letter template
Most late invoices are paid after a clear, polite reminder. The letter that works states the facts, makes paying easy, gives a firm date, and leaves room for a customer who is struggling to agree a plan rather than go silent.
This template names the invoice, amount and original due date, gives the payment details, sets a final date, and explains the interest and recovery costs the law allows for late commercial payment. It offers a payment plan and invites the customer to sign and commit to a payment date, which turns a reminder into a written promise.
Interest rules differ by country: in the UK, business-to-business debts carry statutory interest, and the EU has similar rules. Do not claim statutory interest on a debt owed by a consumer; use the terms in your contract instead.

Questions
When should I send a late payment reminder?
A friendly note a few days after the due date, this letter after two to four weeks, and a final notice before any formal action.
Can I charge interest on a late invoice?
Often, yes, between businesses: many countries set a statutory rate. For consumers, only what your contract allows.
Why ask the customer to sign?
A signed commitment to a payment date is useful evidence that the debt is acknowledged, and customers who commit in writing tend to pay.
