About the Deposit invoice template
A deposit invoice turns a verbal yes into a funded commitment. It is the right document whenever you buy materials, block out dates or turn down other work before the client pays anything else.
The useful part is not the request for money but the terms around it. The client sees the full project total, the deposit as a percentage and an amount, when the rest falls due and against which milestones, and exactly when the deposit stops being refundable. Writing the refund rule down is what avoids the most common argument when a project is cancelled.
The client signs to agree the terms. With Salsox's Sign & Pay, they sign and pay the deposit in one step, and you are notified when both are done.

Questions
How large should a deposit be?
Between 25 and 50 percent of the total is common for services. For custom goods with material costs it may be higher. State the percentage so the client can check the arithmetic.
Should the client sign a deposit invoice?
It helps. A signature on the deposit terms, especially whether the deposit is refundable, removes the most common dispute if the project is cancelled.
Can the client sign and pay the deposit together?
Yes. Sent through Salsox with Sign & Pay, the client agrees to the terms and pays the deposit in one flow.
