Tutoring Agreement

This agreement is made on 24 October 2026 between Samuel Adeyemi (the "Tutor") and Jennifer Walsh (the "Parent"), for lessons for Ella Walsh, in Year 11 (the "Student").

1. Subjects and goals

The Tutor will teach GCSE mathematics and physics. The shared aim is to secure a grade 7 or above in both subjects in summer 2027, with focus on algebra, forces and exam technique. Results depend on many things, including the Student's work between lessons, and are not guaranteed.

2. Schedule and location

Lessons are one 60-minute lesson a week, on Tuesdays at 17:00, held online, by video call, with the student in a shared room at home.

3. Fees

The fee is GBP 45 per lesson, or GBP 400 for a package of 10 lessons paid in advance. Single lessons are paid by bank transfer within 7 days of the lesson. Packages are used within six months of purchase.

4. Cancellations by the family

Lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours notice can be rescheduled at no charge. Later cancellations, or missed lessons, are charged in full.

5. Cancellations by the tutor

If the Tutor cancels, the lesson will be rescheduled at no charge, or refunded if no new time suits.

6. Safeguarding

For online lessons, the Student will join from a shared or open space at home, and lessons will not be recorded without the Parent's written consent. For lessons at home, a parent or another responsible adult will be in the home. The Tutor holds a current background check, available on request, and will follow safeguarding good practice at all times.

7. Progress

The Tutor will share a short written update after every fourth lesson, and a call each term. The Parent may raise any concern with the Tutor at any time.

8. Ending the agreement

Either party may end this agreement with one week's notice. Unused lessons in a prepaid package are refunded.

About the Tutoring agreement template

Private tutoring works best when the family and the tutor agree the practical details before lessons start: what the student is aiming for, when lessons happen, what they cost, and what happens when a lesson has to be missed. A short agreement saves awkward conversations later and makes the arrangement feel professional.

This template sets out the subjects and goals, the weekly schedule and where lessons happen, the rate or a prepaid package, and a fair cancellation rule for both sides. It includes safeguarding practice for tutoring minors: for online lessons, the student joins from a shared space and sessions are not recorded without consent; for home lessons, a parent or guardian is present in the home.

A parent or guardian signs for a student under 18. For tutoring agencies, add the agency's terms and fees; this template is for an independent tutor contracting directly with a family.

What if the tutor cancels?
