Sign and pay online: get the signature and the payment in one step

Most businesses send a contract, wait for it to be signed, then send an invoice and wait again. Sign & Pay puts the payment inside the signing flow, so the client signs and pays before they close the page.

Why use it

  • Paid as they sign

The payment is a step in signing, after the last field, so a signed contract and a paid deposit arrive together.

  • Card or mobile money

Stripe for cards; Paystack for cards and, where Paystack offers it, mobile money in its supported African currencies.

  • Straight to your account

Money goes to your own Stripe or Paystack payout account, not through Salsox's balance.

Why put the payment inside the signature

Every business that takes deposits knows the gap: the client says yes, signs the contract a day later, and pays the deposit a week after that, if a reminder lands at the right moment. In between, you have committed time or ordered materials with nothing in the bank. The longer the gap, the more often the deal quietly dies.

Sign & Pay closes it. When you prepare a document on the Business plan, you set an amount, a currency and which signer pays. That signer reads the document, fills each field, and is then asked to pay before signing completes. They cannot finish signing without paying, and you do not have to chase a separate invoice. The signed PDF and the payment confirmation arrive together.

How it works for the signer

The signer opens the link on their phone or computer, with no account and no app. They are walked through the fields one at a time: signature, date, initials, any text. At the end they see the amount, and choose how to pay. With Stripe they pay by card; with Paystack they can pay by card or, where Paystack supports it, by mobile money, which is how many clients in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria prefer to pay. When the payment succeeds, the document completes and everyone receives the signed copy.

Where the money goes

You connect your own payout account once, either a Stripe account or a Paystack subaccount, from the Payouts page. Payments go to that account, under your business name, on your provider's usual payout schedule. Salsox does not hold your money. The provider's processing fee is deducted from what you receive, at cost, and the Business plan shows that before you send so it is not a surprise.

What it is good for

  • Deposits on bookings: photographers, venues, caterers, tutors, event suppliers.
  • First payments on services: a retainer's first month, a set-up fee, the first milestone of a project.
  • Rental deposits: a tenant signs the lease and pays the deposit before the keys are handed over.
  • Instalment plans: the first instalment of a payment plan, collected as the customer signs the plan.

The deposit invoice and freelance contract templates are written with a deposit clause for exactly this.

Safeguards built in

Payments are checked with the provider directly, not taken on trust from a browser redirect. If a client pays for a document you have already cancelled, or pays twice, the extra payment is refunded automatically. If a payer disputes a card payment with their bank, you are told, and the dispute is recorded on the document's audit trail.

What it does not do

Sign & Pay takes one payment per document from one signer. It is not a subscription billing system, it does not issue recurring invoices, and it does not split one payment between several signers. For a payment schedule, send each instalment's document separately, or use the payment plan template and collect the first instalment at signing.
