Memorandum of Understanding
This Memorandum of Understanding (the "MOU") is made on 8 November 2026 between CodeGirls Ghana Foundation and Accra Technical University (each a "Party").
1. Purpose
The Parties intend to work together on running a free weekend coding programme for 200 secondary-school girls in Greater Accra during 2027.
2. Contributions
CodeGirls Ghana Foundation will contribute the curriculum, 15 trained volunteer mentors, and programme management.
Accra Technical University will contribute two computer labs each Saturday, campus security, and a staff liaison.
Together, the Parties will undertake joint promotion of the programme to schools and a shared report on results at the end of the year.
3. Timeline and review
This MOU runs from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027. The Parties will review progress every three months and may extend or change it in writing.
4. Contacts
CodeGirls Ghana Foundation: Esther Lamptey, Programme Director. Accra Technical University: Dr. Nii Laryea, Dean of Applied Sciences.
5. Nature of this MOU
This MOU records the Parties' shared intentions. Except for clauses 6 to 8, it is not legally binding and does not create a partnership, joint venture or obligation to enter a further agreement. Either Party may withdraw by written notice.
6. Confidentiality (binding)
Each Party will keep confidential any non-public information received from the other in connection with this MOU.
7. Names and logos (binding)
Neither Party will use the other's name or logo without prior written approval, including in publicity about the collaboration.
8. Costs (binding)
Each Party bears its own costs unless the Parties agree otherwise in writing.

About the Memorandum of understanding (MOU) template
An MOU is how organisations agree to work together before they are ready for a full contract, or when a contract would be heavier than the relationship needs. Universities, NGOs, hospitals and companies use them to launch programmes, pilots and partnerships.
The most important clause in an MOU is the one most often left out: which parts are binding. This template is explicit. The collaboration itself is a statement of intent, but confidentiality, use of each other's names and logos, and each party bearing its own costs are binding. That avoids an MOU being treated as a contract nobody meant to sign, or as worthless when a commitment does matter.
The rest is practical: the purpose, what each party contributes, a timeline, named contacts and a regular review. When the collaboration firms up, a formal agreement can replace it. Both organisations sign through Salsox.

Questions
Is an MOU legally binding?
It depends on its wording. This template states that the collaboration is not binding, but that confidentiality, use of names and logos, and costs are. Courts look at the words and the parties' conduct.
When should I use an MOU instead of a contract?
When two organisations want to record a shared plan and roles before details are settled, or when the relationship involves no payment between them. Use a contract when money or firm obligations are involved.
Who should sign an MOU?
Someone with authority to commit each organisation, often a director, dean or chief executive. Name them in the signature block.
