About the Software development proposal template

Software projects go wrong most often at the boundary of scope. This proposal makes that boundary visible: the product idea in one paragraph, the must-have features, and an explicit list of what is not included, so the first change request is a conversation, not a dispute.

The technical approach is described in plain language the client can approve, and the build is broken into milestones, each with a deliverable the client can see and a fixed fee paid on acceptance. That structure spreads risk for both sides and keeps cash flowing for the developer.

It also answers the questions clients forget to ask until launch day: what is covered by warranty, what ongoing support costs, and who owns the code (the client, once paid). Accept it with a signature through Salsox, and pay the first milestone at the same time.

Questions

Should a software proposal be fixed price?

Fixed price per milestone works well when scope is clear, as here. For research-heavy or evolving products, a time-and-materials estimate with a cap may be fairer.

Who owns the code?

In this template the client owns the code once paid in full, and the developer keeps reusable libraries and tools. Without a written term, the developer may keep copyright in many countries.

What happens after launch?

The template includes a warranty period for bug fixes and an optional monthly support plan for hosting, monitoring and changes.
